THE

THEATRICAL

DIRECTOR & ACTOR

Darnel M. Butler has a Theater Arts degree from Bethune-Cookman University. The theater is where he loves to be.

Darnel has been blessed to write, direct, and even star in some incredible productions the past few years.

In 2018 he wrote and narrated a remix version of The Nutcracker calling it “The Hip-Hop Nutcracker.” This production saw nearly 4,000 people come through the doors making the need to add additional shows necessary.

The following year he set out to write his first full length broadway style show calling it, “The Wiz: A Christmas Remix.” This show saw nearly 3,000 people in attendance.

After taking a break during the pandemic he set out to pen something bigger and greater. So he wrote “The Greatest Showman: A Christmas Remix” filled with acrobatic dancing and high energy songs from the movie. To his surprise no one auditioned for the lead role, so he had no choice but to fulfill the part of PT Barnum himself. This production was so sought after that one of the original movie actors, Chelsea Caso, came out to see it in person.

After the success of this production he set out to tackle his greatest production ever. “The Lion King: A Christmas Remix” turned out to be so big that it had to be spanned out over 2 weekends.

Darnel has a passion to see people live and love life through theater and creative arts on the stage.
